The Day I Went To.......

This Saturday we had 2 classes on the go. Karen taught the first called "The Day I Went To..." The idea was to have a place to record and store all of those photos that perhaps didn't warrent a scrapbook page or mini book but never the less, needed something to remember them by.

Karen chose 4 different topics each of which was housed in a special two page booklet with plenty of room for additional photos. The box lid was decorated with a travel theme on mind but the bottom of the box was left undecorated so that everyone could choose their own themes and paper.

For everyone in class who wanted these in detail, here they are in no particular order.

The Set.

Fishing

Bognor

Alton Towers

Greatstone

This was great fun to make and I'm sure there will be many more little books made this summer.

All with one template

That's what Gayle set out to do and thats exactly what she taught on Friday evening. Everyone in class had five cards to choose from but the one that won out was the fantastic rusty bathtub card made using Gayles templates and Tim Holtz Distress Embossing Powders.

Here are the other four. I think you'll agree they are all a little bit special.

Gayle is teaching another class on the 2nd of July where she will launch her new stamps. Don't miss this one.

Wartime Scrapping Your Family

Every time we do a Scrapping Your Family class we choose a theme so that everyone has a chance to get their photos together. This time we used the theme Wartime. Photos could be of men & women in uniform, children being evacuated or any photo depicting life in WW2 or WW1.

One of the most difficult things I've found is finding papers/stamps depicting this era, particularly British ones. So, with this in mind I made 5 new stamps for use in the class. We had a ration card, a small and large letter including stamp, a gun from the 2nd World War and two posters. The idea was to make our own papers to show off our photos.

Here are my 3 examples but there were many more wonderful ideas appearing as the class progressed and I think everyone was pleased with their end results.

The theme for Junes "Scrapping Your Family" class is Children and we are scrapping our modern to old photos including babies to teens.

Watch our for our wartime stamps coming soon exclusively to Scrapbook Sisters

Photos at last

We had two very different full & fun filled classes on Saturday and although the Scrapping Your Family class was the first of the day, I have decided to show the pictures of the In Miniature No7 class first.

The idea was not Karens but designed and created originally by Tre B. It is a lovely project and can be used to make a lovely display or for its original purpose, to give as a gift with a gift card in it.

Everyone made loads of mess

but came away with a great cupcake.

Oh and a special mention for karen who suffered a huge blister on her thumb whilst playing with her new favourite toy...........her glue gun.

And for those of you who are wondering what this scrummy Cupcake is for??

Well it's a gift card holder. A bit more imaginative than an envelope and a lot prettier.

And here's the finished article.

Looks good enough to eat.

I am so not amused

I have all of the wonderful photos from Saturdays 2 classes on my laptop and I can't use them. I borrowed a lead from karen to use yesterday but DH gave me a cable from his laptop and told me it worked ok so I returned Karens Cable. When I turned the laptop on this afternoon the battery was flat and the cable was definately not charging my poor laptop.

Ok, so it's not quite as bad as the picture but it's really annoying. Out shopping tomorrow to hopefully get a replacement. The photos, by the way, are great but I guess you'll have to wait one more day. Sorry folks.

Glitter makes all the difference

A little while ago Karen taught these cards in her Creative Cardmaking Class using peeloffs, double sided adhesive and glitter. We first saw this demonstrated on the Woodware stand at the NEC and fell in love with it.

Earlier this month we demonstrated this technique at the WI Craft Day in Ditton and again it was a great success. It just goes to show how versatile Peel-Offs are.

Don't forget, if you want some new ideas in cardmaking, book on of Karens Creative Cardmaking Classes. You'll love it.

Time to myself

After spending most of the day working on a power point presentation for the WI I have allowed myself some time to breath this evening. To be honest, after seeing Sue Canns work the other day I have been itching to do more to my book so I have been playing with hair textures. She still needs loads of tlc but I pleased with her so far.

With on-line classes on the horizon I need loads of ideas, tips & techniques to get you all playing.

Some Card Inspiration

Starflower came in with this lovely card today made from these lovely new stamps

With eleven stamps in one set you can't go wrong.

Our Travel Book Class taught by Jane, went really well today and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Well done on getting the book finished.Glad you had such a great time.

Don't forget to watch out for more exciting classes going on our website on Tuesday.

What a beautiful double page

Sue Cann has definately been hiding her light under a bushel. After the Altered Art Book Class last Saturday, she went home and finished off the 2nd two pages in her book. The results..........well take a look for yourselves.

Beautiful work Sue. (If you bring the book with you next time you're in I'll take some better pictures):)

Loads of scrummy New Stash

has arrived in the shop plus some badly needed back orders. I was going to show you what arrived but I thought instead I'd just give you a sneek peek of a very small amount. Tease Tease.

Oh and while I was playing around with PSP I had a happy accident and made this from the same photo.

Just shows you what you can do with your stash BEFORE you get it out of the packets.
